Wii Power GloveThe launch of Nintendo’s Next-Gen console Wii, has sparked some concern about it’s controller offerings. The ‘nunchuck’ style controller looks cool, but is it really going to be as functional as they claim? Other than making the player look like a 6 year old in front of a NES system playing duckhunt, is there any function?

The idea that the controller could be used for hitting baseballs, tennis balls, shooting Metroid goblins, and possibly even fighting games makes me wonder just how versatile it will be. We’ve been down this road before, it was called the Power Glove.

Wii Power Glove CoolnessIf you wanted to be cool, you had to have the power glove. The ability to upper cut Mike Tyson, juke from left to right, and even punch useless codes into the pad made it the hip thing to have. Now, how many people played with that plastic contraption 15mins after opening the box? Plus, nowadays I hate to see what kind of ugly sensors you would have to mount to the 4 corners of your TV just to get the thing to work ‘part’ of the time.

The nunchuck will be a flop, as predicted here, buy-wii.net. Make sure whenever you pick up your shiny new Wii system you make sure and purchase the ‘classic’ controller. In the long run you’ll save yourself gas money from having to go back to the store.

About the controller being a flop. I disagree 100%.

The article was written fine, the comment wasn’t meant as a slam… just my honest response to the idea that the controller will flop.

Having used the controler, it will not be a flop. From my testing it worked without problems. You do have to have a bar at the top/bottom of your tv, but its only like .5 inchs thick.

Hey, that’s great that you had the opportunity to use it. At what even did you get your hands on one?
