Nintendo had originally stated that they were interested in creating a console that appealed to everyone, not just gamers. Their hope was that the Nintendo Wii console would become as popular as a TV set, gracing the majority of peoples living rooms.

The drive behind the marketing has been in the focus of their efforts. Instead of Nintendo ‘needing’ to have the greatest processing power and graphics, they focused more on gameplay and controllability. Namely their gimic controller, or what some people believe to be ground breaking in game consoles.

The latest article from NintendoRevolution.ca, by author Sickr, notes that many non-gamers are asking about this upcoming system. Sickr runs a local electronics store and mentiones that some of his customers started asking about the new system that allowed the use of a wand for control. Sickr also goes on to mention that the people asking about the Wii are not kids, but rather adults who get excited about the possibilities of the new style of gameplay with the wiimote.

Was Nintendo marketing successful? Most definately if they plan on marketing the console to gamers and non gamers alike. Truly an exciting time for Nintendo, for the Wii will definately give the PS3 and Xbox 360 a run for their money. This is a literal statement when you compare the potential cost of the Wii compared to the upcoming PS3 console. The price is another driving factor in Sickr’s customers curiosity toward the Nintendo system.

Here wii go! lol
