On July 13th Joystiq released the results of a poll, which pitted the upcoming consoles against each other. The poll, geared at gamers, developers, and retailers asked the pressing question of which next-gen system they would be purchasing. The results are staggering, “Land Slide” comes to mind.
An amazing 73% of individuals will be likely to purchase the Wii. This figure compared to 17% who will buy the PS3 when it’s launched and 10% who are likely to purchase neither. Where is the console competition and what is Sony left to do in the wake of this poll?
It is expected that the price of the next-gen systems play a big roll in the results of the poll. Arguably we are not comparing apples to apples, rather a $250 apple to a $600 orange. However, such a large target audience that is Japan, PS3 better be pulling some surprises out of their black hole.
