NintendoRevolution.ca reported a few days ago of a rumor that the Sony character, Crash Bandicoot, would be coming to the Wii in 2007. Yesterday, this rumor was confirmed to be just that, a rumor.
The rumor, originating from a Vivendi-held games summit, indicated that the developers of Crash Bandicoot where considering other consoles. However, no word was made specific that they were leaving Sony or that they were planning on joining any particular system.
The rumor started shortly after a Vivendi-held European games summit. Within hours, an overseas website was reporting that Crash Bandicoot would hit Wii sometime in 2007. We called Vivendi for clarification and it turns out that the rumor is false. During a question and answer session, a Vivendi representative was apparently asked about next generation development and replied loosely that the publisher was looking into all consoles. The rumor snowballed from there. A Vivendi spokesperson flatly denied the Crash Bandicoot Wii rumor, calling it “rubbish.”
Whether this is an official statement poised to hold off the wolves at Sony or 100% truth, it still keeps the Bandicoot Wii a rumor.
