Richard TevershamThe European gaming magazine MCV had an interview with Richard Teversham, head of marketing for Xbox Europe. The focus of the interview was no doubt to stir up emotions and controversy over the competitions launch come November. Richard had only a few points to pick at, but made it clear that Microsoft was not concerned with either the PS3 or Wii.

doubts on a strong showing from such a relatively weak (”…Wii is almost a GameCube with a DVD drive…”) console,

Slamming the Wii because it’s not an HD powerhouse does not negate the fact that it is competition. In addition, perhaps Microsoft is in denial that gamers are looking for something more than a high price tag and pretty graphics. To get a better understanding of my view on this topic simply read the previous post, the Wii is different and should not be directly compared to the 360 nor the PS3.

Teversham also questioned Nintendo’s ability to produce enough quantities of the Wii to fulfill demand in the US and Europe. Fairly ballsy comment on his behalf since the Xbox 360 was plagued with shortages and failures directly after launch. The threat of shortages aside, Nintendo has been in supposed production for a longer time frame than the 360 was before launch in November of last year. Perhaps we shouldn’t be throwing stones Mr. Teversham.

Wii wasn’t the only console being roasted by Teversham, he also fired off a few negative opinions of the PS3 as well. He made jabs at the PS3 high price tag, especially in respect to the European market. Although the most impactful suggestion was that Sony’s fan base did not like Blu-Ray being forced down their throats.
