The Yankee Group, a popular market research company has predicted that the Nintendo Wii will come in last this season. The next-gen console wars will undoubtedly begin at some point in November, but every “expert” has a different opinion on who will come out on top.

According to the Revolution Portal, the Sony PS3 will come out on top this Christmas, with the already released Xbox 360 coming in second, and Wii bringing up the rear. Despite such huge buzz amongst online industry analysts, the Yankee Group predicts that the PS3 will hold a 4% market share over the Xbox 360. The Wii will fall far, far, behind…

The Yankee Group is forecasting that 27-million Xbox 360’s will be sold by 2011, taking 40 percent of the U.S. market. They expect Sony to ship around 30-million PS3’s even with the high price tag.

We’ll see. ;) Like most ‘experts’ in the field, depending on who hired the marketing group will have a large impact on which way the findings lean.
