During the Leipzig convention, there were several announcements related to Nintendo, but not what we were expecting. In addition to console developers there were also a number of game developers that made their pressence known and were nice enough to do some candid interviews. One such interview was between Capcom and Pro-G.uk, where the fate of the Resident Evil series and the Wii were discussed.
“Takeuchi also went all uncomfortable and apologetic when we asked him about Resident Evil Wii, saying he didn’t know if there would be one. Although when we put our puppy-dog eyes on, he did at least concede that there might be a teensy chance of seeing such a game,”
It’s been suggested by a number of sources that Takeuchi misunderstood the question. The upcoming Resident Evil 5 is slated to be released on the PS3 and Xbox360, not the Wii. Therefore, the chances of this title being released to the Nintendo system is unlikely and probably what Takeuchi thought he was being asked about.
There is still hope for a Resident Evil game for the Wii, we might just have to wait awhile after launch for it. Meanwhile, there are a few horror Wii games being discussed for launch status. One such Wii horror title is Sadness, which we discussed back in July.
