Red Steel UpdateThe news out of E3 was that the Wiimote pocessed a lot of potential, but feel short in a few games. One game to mention was the highly anticipated Wii title Red Steel. This first person shooter(FPS) pitted our hero against swordsmen and gunmen, allowing the player to wield the wiimote as his sword.

The use of the Wiimote was integrated into the game, but did not mimic movements precisely. Instead of being a 1:1 copy of what the player was doing with the controller, it was using bits and pieces of the movement. Since E3, Ubisoft has announced that the game has been redone, namely the way the wiimote interacts with the game. Now, the movement of the controller is directly converted to the action on the screen, making the game much more immersive.

Wiimote changes were not the only things changing with Red Steel, their graphics were overhauled as well. The graphic environment of Red Steel has been changed to a darker, more thrilling look. Since E3 the graphics have been tuned up and better suited to the atmosphere of the game.

Lastly, according to N-Lan, the loading times have been completely removed from the system. This means no wait times between action, levels, menus, or anything else that may inhibit game play. Although many games for Nintendo have load times, they are almost insignificant, however for Red Steel they have been removed. Look forward to this fast paced FPS come launch time for the Wii.
