The Nintendo Wii has simply astonished industry experts since it’s debut at E3 this year. What is the Wii buzz focal point, it’s a trait that anyoen can understand. In stead of relying on cpu hardware statistics, graphic card beefiness, Nintendo focuses on a concept of having fun.

It requires zero statistics to look at someone playing with the wiimote and think hey…that’s cool. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing pong, with the Nintendo Wii it can be fun. That’s where the marketing genious starts and it is escalating through Sept 14th, for whatever reason. (Our guess is the announcement of the Wii launch date and price.) Sept 14th marks the day that Nintendo throws a number of private parties in the largest cities. The Wii Ambassadors are the only ones prevy to such an event and yours truly is not one of them.

Ant, from 1up.com is one such Wii Ambassador that looks forward to the Sept 14th Wii date. 1up.com announced today that Ant received a care packaged from the host, Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo himself. The package consisted of an Onyx DS-Lite, which will not be available for a few more weeks to the public. Accompanying the Wii care package was a note from Reggie, preparing Ant for the big event. Is it any wonder the media takes off with buzz like this.

The Wii Ambassadors are used as a tool to create a word-of-mouth buzz about the Wii. After this party, be sure you’ll see blog posts galore of eye-witness accounts of how great the next-gen system truly is. But, the enthusiasm for the Wii is/has/will continue to grow, according to Amazon statistics. Amazon Japan reported that the Nintendo Wii and PS3 were tied in regards to customer interest. Pfft, and I thought Nintendo wanted to be the second system?
