Nintendo has officially announced the release of the Wii and it’s US price, however that does not stop the rumors from flying. Joystiq reported today that Wal-mart will not feature any demonstration units in it’s electronics department. Officially, Joystiq claims that no demo Wii units will be installed for the Q4 floor plan.
It’s a contradicting report, confirming in one sentence that there will be no units. However, in the next sentence they are unable to reach Wal-mart headquarters nor Nintendo. But why would Wal-mart consider not demonstrating potentially one of the greatest selling systems this season?
According to Joystiq Walmart is concerned with the well being of it’s patrons. The Wiimote being the largest concern, noting that kids would be flailing around during game play. Who’s gonna get hurt in this situation…probably Joystiq for starting silly rumors.
