Catching the eye of MSNBC writer Winda Benedetti, Elebits is shaping up to be the reason to own a Wii( At least until Mario Galaxy comes out ;)). The article covers the reason Elebits utilizes the next-gen abilities of the Wii, namely flailing the Wiimote. Luckily the Wii game represents much more than a fleeting eye candy spectacle, like other next-gen systems, but attempts to be ‘fun’!
Need to open a door? Just turn the Remote in your hand as you would a door knob. Want to pull books off a shelf? Grab hold of them with a click of a button and then yank the Remote backwards as if yanking the books with your hand.
After playing the Wii for a few days it’s obvious that mundane tasks can be obscenely fun, if turned competitive. Simply swinging a bat becomes a test of my masculinity, if only I could beat my wife. Elebits continues the Wii-like thinking stressing that simple tasks, simple game play, can translate into bit fun.
