When choosing a gaming console it’s always important to keep in mind what games are going to be available for each system. Exclusives can make a console, enter ‘Halo’ for the original Xbox. Now, the PS3, Wii, and Xbox360 are duking it out in the console race peoples attention are turning to the software available to each for guidance on what to buy.
The Nintendo Wii currently has over 113 exclusive titles in development, making it the largest of any console. As of this posting the 360 trails with 96 and the PS3 isn’t even keeping score with only 47 games in development. What does this mean to any potential console consumer? You’re gonna get a lot of ports.
Typically ported video games lose their luster, since the lowest common denominator must be reached to make it work. In the past this sort of balance was achieved in graphics alone, not so much game play, but the Wii has changed that. Does Nintendo know something the other console developers don’t, what the customers really want? I’m looking forward to playing software that’s made for my Wii, not a 1 size fits all mashup.
