Buy Wii Talk

Ok, perhaps the term destruction is a little melodramatic, but come on. In the latest press release from Nintendo, the announcement was made that there was a bust on mod chip creators and those creating pirated discs. Although no direct involvement was mentioned, it’s clear that Nintendo doesn’t want the chips/discs on the streets. In 06 alone Nintendo reported that gaming manufacturers lost $762 million.

What are mod chips?

Mod chips are a pirates friend, which enables them to play home made copies of video games. Essentially a company creates and programs a computer chip, which is attached to the existing circuit board within the gaming console. Without the chip it is impossible to simply create a ‘home brew’ game and play it in a console.
