The next generation console war has been raging here in the latter part of 07 and the Wii was knocked out of #1, temporarily. The Xbox 360 was on top for a very short time, large part due to the fact that Halo 3 was finally released, which showed a surge in 360 sales. However, as of last month…that has changed.

The Nintendo Wii is once again the #1 selling next generation console on the market and with good reason. If you were one of the folks setting out waiting to jump into the Wii, well Mario Galaxy is the reason to start buying. The Nintendo Wii console along with the Mario Galaxy Wii game is the perfect combination gift for anyone on your list. Personally, I’ve had trouble pulling myself away from the game.

For the boring figures, according to the market analyzer NPD, the Nintendo Wii sold 519,000 units, compared with 366,000 360 consoles. Ahhh, it’s good to be on top again.
