Buy Nintendo Wii Console

So, were you able to buy Nintendo Wii Console over the Christmas season? For many, it was next to impossible to buy Nintendo Wii Console for retail. Many ended up paying $300-$400 more for their nintendo wii console. How long will it last? Last year at Christmas the Wii was supposed to be available in February, but yet a year later it was still sold out. This held true for this Christmas, and who knows how long it will be before you can buy Nintendo Wii in stores. Maybe we are in for a long wait again, but hopefully they will be on the shelves soon.

Wii Media Center…Possibility

With the news yesterday of a new DS Download Channel in Japan, the possibility of the Wii becoming a set-top box increases. Also, don’t forget the fact that the Wii is compatible with USB Keyboards and there is already software available to fake some media center properties in your Wii. Because of these turn of events many industry analysts feel that Nintendo is trying to follow the Xbox 360 and PS3 lead of becoming a complete entertainment box.

The real challenge will be storage for the Wii, along with the processing power to stream media and handle multiple downloads. In addition, Nintendo is claiming there is no immediate plan to bring the Download Channel to the US.

There are no plans to bring something like this to the United States at the moment, he said, but Nintendo is always looking around. “There are other channel opportunities,” he said. “They may look like games. They may not look like games.”

Don’t we just love hearing the vague game? News.com has the rest of the scoop, in a boring comparison of next gen consoles and how they will replace your DVD player, cable box, and even PC. Yeah right.

New ‘Check Mii Out’ Channel

MiiThe freebies for Wii users keep coming, now Nintendo has released an all new Mii oriented channel, ‘Check Mii Out’. It’s all about the Mii’s you create with the Wii and allows for social interaction via a voting system.

It’s an interesting concept, because it allows you to view Mii’s from around your geographic location. In addition, there are frequent contests that allow users to vote on the BEST Mii created for the particular theme. The current theme is Mario Without His Cap, but there are new contests being introduced every week.

Create Your Own Smash Bros Stages

Super Smash Bros BrawlNintendo made another announcement in regards to their upcoming Wii game, Super Smash Bros Brawl. According to the latest press release, gamers will be able to create their OWN stages to play on in the new game.

Some of the options that will be configurable will be backgrounds, music, size, and placement of objects. No tired maps here, only new and fresh Smash Bros Stages you create yourself. And better yet you can submit your creations to Nintendo.

Nintendo plans on selecting the very best gamer created stages and have them available for download via the Nintendo’s WiFi. Every 24 hours a new user created map should be available. Expect the customization to ensue early 08.

Gifting Virtual Console Titles

It’s the thought that counts right? Oh well, in an upcoming update to the Nintendo Wii console users will be able to purchase Wii Virtual Console titles and then send them as a gift to others. Should make gift giving this Christmas nice and easy.

According to the Associated Press, the option of Virtual Console Game gift giving will be coming up AND Nintendo has announced that they have increased production to 1.8 million consoles per month. Does that mean there will be enough this Christmas?

Wii Virtual Console Update

There are generally enough sources available to cover the latest Wii Virtual Console releases, however I decided better late than never. Besides, last Monday’s update was super cool and contained a MUST HAVE Wii Virtual console game.

Originally released in Japan as Super Mario Bros. 2, this game has previously made only brief cameo appearances in the Western Hemisphere. Now available on the Virtual Console in all of its original splendor, Mario fans will appreciate the familiar look and feel of the game, while finding that its updated game play creates an entirely new challenge. No longer content just to wear different-colored overalls, Mario and Luigi also possess different skill sets: Mario can stop quicker, while Luigi can jump higher. In addition to the classic enemies already known to fans worldwide, there are also Poison Mushrooms, backward Warp Zones, and the occasional wind gust (which can help or hinder your progress) to take into account. And if that’s somehow not enough, expert players can go looking for the game’s secret worlds. So get ready to put your Mario skills to the ultimate test, and save the Princess again. Just don’t be surprised if she’s in another castle.

Created by the legendary development studio Treasure, this is a game that hard-core gamers and fans of Japanese imports recognize as one of the finest Nintendo 64 titles to have never previously reached North American shores. Its unique combination of English voice-overs with Japanese subtitles (preserved in this version) has only added to the enthusiasm for its eventual release here. Experience the frenetic pace of a classic shooter, while choosing from a variety of options and a number of different skill levels until you are ready to take on the full-blown challenge of Turbo Hard mode. Not to be outdone by the action, however, the intriguing story line gives the game its soul and draws you even further into the mix. Set in the near future, on an overpopulated Earth starved for resources, players uncover the intriguing mystery of two teenagers (Saki and Airan) and their battle against the Ruffians as they advance through level after level of nonstop action. Take a deep breath, gather your energy and prepare to see why this game is so highly praised.
I’m going to assume the reason there were only 2 games released last Monday was because of how necessary the Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels was. Afterall, peeps aren’t made of money and to release more than one must have would have been cruel.

See ya in the Wii Shop Channel!

Wii Virtual Console Reminder

Monday brought more virtual console titles to the Wii Online Shop Channel. Kirby’s Avalanche from the SNES, Streets of Rage 3 from the Sega Genesis, and Legend of Hero Tonma from the TurboGrafx16.

I believe in the aftermath of me having my first baby girl I missed the Virtual Console update last week, I apologize. Surely having your first born is a good enough excuse not to update you on the Wii Virtual Console update? Right?
