If you are looking for a fun, relaxing, non violent game, then Endless Ocean for the Wii is a great game for you. This is not your typical game, and it is not everyday that a video game comes out where you can explore the ocean in a free roaming environment. If you are looking for a game to explore, then you should buy endless ocean for the wii. But if you are looking for a non stop action adventure, then don’t buy endless ocean. It is a slow paced, underwater adventure that is fun for the whole family. This game is defintently not a game to buy a wii for though, but it is still fun.

Introducing “de Blog”

This has to be one of the coolest looking Wii games out there right now. Just take a look at the whimsical screen shots from de Blob below…

Isn’t that cool? For us, de Blob is starting to look like one of those crazy unique games that everyone gets excited about. Kind of like Loco Roco for the PSP when it came out.

From the cartoon graphics, to the unique controls, de Blob has caught our attention and we are looking forward to seeing it sometime in 2008.

If you have not purchased a Wii online yet, it is gradually starting to become easier to buy wii online. In order to find them in stock, for retail, and without any extras, it is still hard. And expect it to be hard to find a wii that way for awhile. But if you are looking to buy a wii bundle, then that is a lot easier. Many Wii Bundles are available from a lot of online merchants.

If you are just looking to get one very close to retail, then just buy wii consoles from Ebay. They are usually only $50 above retail. Which is not a bad price at all.

If you wanted to buy a wii system, and had a couple of thousands laying around, then this would have been the wii system for you. This Zelda Themed Wii system was auctioned off on Ebay awhile back, and I believe it fetched a pretty price. It may be one of the most expensive Wii’s ever sold. Nintendo is winning the war for the best video game company and video game systems. Before you start arguing with me, lets take a look at the sales statistics shall we?

Wii Sales Statistics

Japan: 4.94 Million | America: 8.71 Million | Others: 6.38 Million | 20.03 Million

Japan: 21.76 Million | America: 20.85 Million | Others: 23.58 Million | 66.2 Million

XBOX 360 Sales Statistics

Japan: .56 Million | America: 10.52 Million | Others: 5.43 Million | 16.51 Million

Japan: 1.79 Million | America: 3.59 Million | Others: 3.9 Million | 9.29 Million

Thanks to VG Charts for the stats. Now those are some pretty impressive numbers. First lets talk about the portable market.

Portable Gaming: Right now, there are really only 2 contenders for the portable gaming market, the PSP and Nintendo DS. For the sake of this discussion, I will not be including Gameboy Advanced. By looking at the numbers above you will notice that the Nintendo DS has TWICE the number of systems sold versus the PSP. That pretty much shows how Nintendo dominates in the portable market.

Home Gaming: This battle is a little closer, but not by much. As you can see from the stats above, the Wii comes in first with 20.03 million units sold, the XBOX 360 comes in second with 16.51 million units sold, and the PS3 trails way behind with 9.29 million units sold. The Wii dominates both systems in sales. Plus, the Wii was released one year LATER then the XBOX 360.

So, now we may ask ourselves, why is Nintendo Winning? There could be many reasons for this.

1. Price: Nintendo systems are affordable. The Wii and DS are about half the price of its competitors. This allows a wider variety of people to purchase their hardware.

2. Target Market: This is probably the biggest factor in Nintendo’s comeback. Not only are they targeting the hardcore gamer, but they are targeting women, baby boomers, senior citizens, and the overweight. This has never been done before in gaming, and so far is paying off. With best selling games like Wii Sports, Brain Age, and Wii Fit.

3. Control Scheme: It is revoultionary. You can swing a back, cock a gun, throw a football, and race all with one little masterpiece called the Wii Remote. Its applications are endless, and when everyone sees the control scheme, they immediatly want to play it.

Whatever it is, people are swarming onto the Nintendo bandwagon. It is one of the biggest comebacks in gaming history. They have risen to and above their former glory. One thing is for sure, I don’t see them backing down anytime in the near future.

Which Is Better?

So, this may spark some debate.Which console do you think is better and why? The XBOX 360, PS3, or the Nintendo Wii? No fan boys please.

In my opinion, I don’t have a favorite when it comes down to the XBOX 360 and the Nintendo Wii. I would rate them about equal, while I put the PS3 on the bottom of the totem pole. The reason I rate them both equally, is because I enjoy playing them for different reasons.

For the XBOX 360, I enjoy playing the first person  shooters and enjoy the more realistic graphics.

For the Nintendo Wii, I love the platformers, and the nostalgic feeling it gives me when I play the classic Nintendo games. I also like the revolutionary control scheme, and fun, interactive games like Wii Sports and Rayman.

The PS3 has never been my favorite. The lack of good games brings the rating way down for me. Maybe when they come out with games like Haze and release PS3 online, I may change my tune.

Best Wii Game of 2007

Super Mario Galaxy

This is by far the best wii game for 2007. Everything from the classic Nintendo platformer graphics, to a franchise that goes back in video game history further then any other, to the nostalgic and classic musical score. Everything about this game brings you back to the good old days of Mario Brothers, to the new, hi-tech video games of today. It is the perfect mix of the old and the new. And if you own a Wii, and do not own this game, then I suggest you Buy Super Mario Galaxy right now. You will not regret it.

I cannot wait to see what 2008 brings us. I am most looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Brawl :)

How Often Do You Play Your Wii?

Are you a Wii addict? I seem to be. I cannot get enough of Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil 4, and all of the classic Nintendo games. I am always looking for the best next thing. Basically, when I am not playing the Wii, I am either eating, sleeping, pooping, or writing on this blog. I would say that playing the Wii is my full time job. I am so glad that I could buy a wii early on, and have had a great year experiencing the magic of the Nintendo Wii.
